The HMS Ambuscade: A Legacy of Service Between 1746 and 1993, eight Royal Navy ships bore the name HMS Ambuscade. These frigates and destroyers played a crucial role in nearly every major naval conflict, from the Age of Sail to World War I and the Falklands War. The Ambuscades served as the fleet's workhorses, patrolling sea lanes, protecting convoys, and shielding carriers and transports. Their contributions were marked by significant events such as the Battle of Jutland in 1916. The last remaining Ambuscade, a Type 21 frigate, was sold to Pakistan in 1993 and later donated to the charity Clyde Naval Heritage. This book tells the story of the HMS Ambuscades and their crew over nearly three centuries. The author's project aims to bring one of these ships back to its birthplace, the Clyde, where it will be preserved as part of a museum focusing on the Falklands War.
