Description
Historical Comedy on Screen explores the intersection of comical and historical storytelling in film. This book examines how comedies about history often focus on themes that are difficult to laugh at, and asks what these films can reveal when taken seriously.
The Western imagination has long viewed history as a sombre subject, but this book reveals the many overlooked comedic renderings of history that offer a different perspective. By looking beyond the usual sombre portrayals, Historical Comedy on Screen sheds new light on how comedy and history intersect.
