Description
David Bowie's Berlin years were marked by both artistic innovation and personal struggle. In 1976, he left Los Angeles to settle in West Berlin, where he would create some of his most critically acclaimed work. Tobias Rüther offers a fascinating account of Bowie's time in Berlin, exploring the musician's experiences with addiction, art, and culture. The book delves into Bowie's friendships and collaborations with artists such as Iggy Pop and Brian Eno, as well as his own artistic pursuits, including painting and cycling through the city. Through Bowie's story, Rüther sheds light on the cultural and historical context of West Berlin during the late 1970s, a city caught between its past and its uncertain future.
