Description
The Hazan Genealogy: Aaron De Yoseph Hazan - Izmir Jews 1600-2000 This book explores the history of the HAZAN family, who played a significant role in the Jewish community of Izmir for over 400 years. The family's scholars and leaders were responsible for various cities within the Ottoman Empire, with one or two "CHIEF RABBIS" serving in each generation. Aaron De Yoseph Hazan is featured in the second part of this book, who lived from 1848 to 1931. He was a prominent leader known as "LEV TOV = GOOD HEART", and made significant contributions to the Jewish community, including founding the newspaper "LA BUENA ESPERANSA" and teaching Modern Turkish for 50 years. Hazan also established several institutions, such as the Girls' school in Izmir and Karatash Hospital. The book provides a detailed account of the Hazan family's history and their impact on the Jewish community in Izmir.
