Description
Hettie the Highland cow has a lot of hair to keep her warm and cosy, but it's also a problem for her. Other animals want to be cosy too, and they're not picky about where they settle down.
As the seasons change, Hettie's hair becomes a home for all sorts of creatures. In the spring, blackbirds build their nests in her locks. In the summer, butterflies lay their eggs in her fur, which hatch into wriggling caterpillars. In the autumn, a squirrel burrows into her coat to hibernate. And in the winter, a mountain hare hops aboard too.
It's a bit of a hairy situation for Hettie, and she might be in need of a haircut. But for now, she's a host to all sorts of Scottish wildlife, thanks to Jo Allan's lively illustrations.
