Description

Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift is a witty and insightful satire that uses comic inversions to explore the nature of humanity and society. The novel follows Lemuel Gulliver, a ship's surgeon who embarks on four voyages, encountering various societies along the way. In Lilliput, he is tiny in comparison to its inhabitants; in Brobdingnag, he is the one being exhibited as a curiosity. His travels also take him to Laputa, where a society of speculators and projectors has lost touch with reality, and the land of the Houyhnhnms, where gentle horses live alongside their Yahoos counterparts. This edition reproduces the original illustrations from 1726 and includes an introduction by Robert Demaria, Jr., which discusses the ways Gulliver's Travels has been interpreted since its first publication.
