Description
Granny's Kitchen Cupboard presents a remarkable collection of British twentieth-century ephemera. Over many years, Granny has accumulated an incredible array of quirky post-war goods, advertising and kitchen items that showcase the societal change following austerity in Britain in the early 1950s. This beautifully arranged book features old household brands that have evolved into various iterations, as well as some odd items that may evoke nostalgia or amusement. From vintage pastille tins to rifle cartridges, each object is accompanied by text that divulges its history and use. The collection reflects a long life lived in a single house in the Home Counties, where nothing was thrown away - everything was recycled and reused. The result is a fascinating glimpse into a bygone era, with objects that portray the innovative advertising designs, odd curios, and recognisable old brands of the time.
