Description
Glossolalia Poems by Marita Dachsel is an unflinching exploration of sisterhood, motherhood, and sexuality through the voices of thirty-four polygamous wives. In this collection, Dachsel uses mid-nineteenth century Mormon America as a microcosm for universal emotions, weaving together love, jealousy, loneliness, pride, despair, and passion into a deeply human examination of what it means to be a wife and a woman. The result is a curious and wonderful book that brings its subjects to life through the power of poetry. Dachsel's talent for inhabiting her characters and time creates a hyper-real experience, drawing the reader into the quiet breathing of these women and their stories.
