Description

Glorious, a hilarious comedy of the worst singer in the world, is based on a true story. Florence Foster Jenkins, an enthusiastic soprano with a pitch far from perfect, warbled and screeched her way through performances to audiences who mostly laughed at her antics.

Despite criticism, Florence was surrounded by devoted friends who shared her eccentricity. The play follows her charity recitals, extravagant balls, recording sessions, and ultimately, her triumph at Carnegie Hall.

A heart-warming comedy that is both lunatically funny and technically impressive, Glorious has been praised for its sublime comedy and virtuoso performance from Maureen Lipman in the Birmingham Repertory Theatre premiere.
