Description
The Glastonbury Festival is one of the world's largest performing arts events, attracting up to 200,000 visitors from around the globe over four days. Since 2004, photographer Venetia Dearden has been documenting the people behind this iconic festival, capturing their stories and personalities through intimate portraits. Dearden used a portable photographic studio to focus on individuals and groups, revealing the diverse range of characters that make up the Glastonbury community. The resulting photographs showcase festivalgoers, stall holders, charity workers, organizers, and many famous performers, including Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse, and Leonard Cohen. This unique collection offers a glimpse into the surreal atmosphere of the festival. The book is part of Dearden's extensive body of work, which has been published in top publications such as Vogue, Wallpaper, and Stern. Her previous book, Somerset Stories Fivepenny Dreams, was published in 2008 and showcases her ability to capture the essence of a region through photography.
