Description

GIRL TO CITY is a memoir that recounts one young woman's journey from her roots in the Pittsburgh suburbs to becoming a cult singer-songwriter in 1990s New York. Born out of a punk rock scene and a passion for music, this story follows the author's struggles and triumphs as she navigates love affairs, temp jobs, motherhood, and finding her voice as an artist.

Through her experiences, Amy Rigby shares the challenges faced by women in the music industry during a time when female musician role models were scarce. With honesty and wit, she recounts how she picked up a guitar and sang her truth on stage, creating an identity as an artist that continues to inspire those who imagine making a life out of what they love.
