Description

Gert & Uwe Tobias Grisaille is a collection of large-format woodcuts, collages and typewriter drawings by renowned German artists. The duo's latest group of works, GRISAILLE, showcases their signature style of exuberant imagination, craftsmanlike perfection and humorous depth. In this new series, the artists have rediscovered the centuries-old technique of "grey-in-grey painting" and reinterpreted it through the medium of woodcut. This results in a twilight world of monochrome colours, where shadows acquire ambiguity and are carried to extremes once more. The GRISAILLE collection offers a unique glimpse into the artistic process of Gert & Uwe Tobias, with its characteristic blend of creativity, technical skill and wit.
