Description
Geometry: The Third Book of Foundations by Michel Serres A meticulous and lyrical translation of a key text in the history of ideas, this book challenges traditional notions of mathematics and its development. Serres argues that the history of geometry is marked by ruptures that can shed light on how mathematical disciplines have evolved and shaped our way of thinking. By rejecting a linear approach to the history of mathematics, Serres invites readers to explore the past of maths and identify the key moments that have influenced its development. This translation provides a unique insight into the history of ideas and offers a fresh perspective on the foundations of geometry. First published in 2017, this English translation marks an important milestone in making this influential work available to a wider audience.
