Description

Strabo's Geography is a comprehensive account of the known world in the 1st century AD. Written by Strabon, an Asiatic Greek scholar who traveled extensively throughout Italy, the Near East, and Asia Minor, this 17-book work provides detailed descriptions of various regions, including their physical features, politics, and history. Strabo's approach is based on that of his predecessor Eratosthenes, but he adds general descriptions of separate countries, making it a valuable source for understanding the geography and culture of ancient civilizations. The book also contains information about natural products and physical features, making it an invaluable resource for those interested in ancient history and geography. The Loeb Classical Library edition of Strabo's Geography is available in eight volumes, offering a comprehensive and authoritative translation of this important work.
