Description
Joseph Stalin's rise to dominance in French political culture is explored in this book, tracing his influence from the 1930s through the 1950s. French writers played a crucial role in building Stalin's cult of personality and disseminating propaganda.
The work of prominent intellectuals affiliated with the French Communist Party is examined, including notable figures such as Henri Barbusse, Romain Rolland, Paul Eluard, and Louis Aragon. This book situates their work within a broader cultural context, shedding light on the dissemination of Stalinist ideology in the international Communist sphere.
At a pivotal moment, with the resurgence of the Stalin cult and authoritarianism worldwide, this study arrives at a timely examination of the enduring legacy of Stalin's influence in French culture and beyond.
