Description
Gateshead From Old Photographs provides a unique glimpse into the lives of those who lived in this north-east town. Through 162 superbly preserved images, the book offers a nostalgic look back at a period that is gone but not forgotten. The town's history has been shaped by major changes throughout the twentieth century, including slum-clearance programmes and renovation projects. This collection of archive photographs allows readers to relive the past and see how Gateshead was transformed over time. Published in 2015, this book is a fitting tribute to the memories of time gone by, and marks an important milestone for the Gateshead Local History Society, which celebrated its Golden Anniversary in 2014.
