Description
GamesMaster: An Oral History charts the highs and lows of Channel 4's videogame TV show. Written by host Dominik Diamond, this book features over forty contributors sharing their experiences behind the scenes of the show. From its inception to its phenomenal success, the book documents the creativity, chaos, and camaraderie that defined GamesMaster. The lineup includes production crew, celebrity guests, and games-playing members of the public who became either playground heroes or defeated outcasts vying for the iconic Golden Joystick prize. Spanning seven chapters covering each series, the book offers a unique insight into the show's instant success, its impact on 1990s television, and the ups and downs experienced behind the scenes. First broadcast in 1992, GamesMaster is a story of the 1990s, set against a backdrop of videogame console wars, Britpop, and the emergence of the World Wide Web.
