Description
Frontiers Past and Future: Science Fiction and the American West by Carl Abbott explores the connections between science fiction and the American West. This study examines how science fiction writers have drawn inspiration from western narratives to shape their visions of the future. Abbott's analysis reveals an unexpected common ground between science fiction and western fiction, particularly in their concerns about frontier expansionism. The book draws on a range of sources, including award-winning authors, popular film and television series, and lesser-known works, to illustrate this overlap. By exploring the intersection of science fiction and the American West, Abbott offers a fresh perspective on both genres, enriching our understanding of western history and its impact on our collective imagination.
