Description
Fremd Im Eigenen Land? is a collection of essays and speeches by Annette Simon and Jan Faktor, two German-speaking psychoanalysts who have been married for over twenty years. Both authors are also writers, bringing their unique perspectives to this shared work.
The book reflects on the political and social conflicts of their recent past, drawing on personal experiences that have shaped their understanding of identity and belonging. The authors explore how their own lives were affected by the upheavals of reunification, including the legacy of the Stasi in East Germany and the changing cultural landscape.
Through their analysis, Annette Simon sheds light on the ongoing impact of political divisions and social change on individuals and communities. Her work also offers insight into the daily practice of psychotherapy in a post-communist context.
