Description
The Focke-Wulf Fw 187: A Forgotten Fighter in German Aviation History. The Focke-Wulf Fw 187 was a twin-engined fighter developed by Professor Kurt Tank, first flying in the summer of 1937. Its speed of 700 km/h made it the fastest German fighter with similar engines, and it was considered for record attempts that were abandoned with the outbreak of war. Although production was limited to a handful of prototypes, the Fw 187's fortunes were revived by the debacle of the Me 210, which was supposed to succeed the Bf 110. Despite its potential, no production contract was forthcoming, and the few Fw 187s built served in industry defense and were later operated by the Vaerløse Aerial Gunnery School. This little-known aircraft is now documented with numerous photographs and drawings, many of which have never been published before. For aviation enthusiasts and modelers, this book provides a significant insight into German aviation history, closing a long-standing gap in the subject.
