Description

Françoise le Marchand's Florine and Boca are two novellas that stand out for their imaginative imagery. Published illicitly in 18th-century France, these works reflect the genre's complicated history following a scandal that led to its royal ban. The exact reasons behind the clandestine publication of these two tales remain unclear, but it is likely related to the scandal's impact on female writers who pioneered the contes de fées genre. The novellas contain unusual features that may be connected to this context, and their construction can be described as eccentric. Despite these complexities, Florine and Boca are notable for their vivid imagery and imaginative storytelling.
