Description

Otto Liman von Sanders' Five Years in Turkey offers a unique perspective on one of the most pivotal moments in modern history. In 1913, he was appointed as the Chief of a German Military Mission in Turkey and rose through the ranks to command the Turkish Fifth Army defending Gallipoli. His experiences during this campaign are of great interest to historians. Von Sanders' account is based on notes written up in Malta while he was detained for six months in 1919. This firsthand perspective provides valuable insights into the events leading up to and following the Dardanelles campaign. The book offers a detailed and personal look at one of the most significant military campaigns of World War I. With its historical significance and unique perspective, Five Years in Turkey is an important addition to any collection on World War I or modern history.
