Description
Something strange has been happening in the village. A dead pig is carried through the lanes in a coffin, signposts are buried in a field, and a mummy walks the streets at night, causing alarm among the local residents. Since an evacuee arrived, tensions have risen, with some villagers mistaking him for a Nazi spy. The village has seen many visitors since, including American soldiers preparing for D-Day and a deserter hiding out in the woods. However, the arrival of the Bee King has had the most significant impact. He is a mysterious figure with his own rituals, and the villagers fear that he may be exerting a strange influence over their boys, much like he does over his bees. The second novel by Mick Jackson confirms his originality and talent as an author.
