Description
A jolly good mystery set in Devon during the final days of the Second World War. When a thatched cottage is destroyed in a blaze, Inspector Macdonald is tasked with uncovering the motive behind the murder. Nicholas Vaughan, a former army man, has taken refuge in the countryside after an accident and is trying to rebuild his life. However, his peaceful existence is disrupted by the arrival of June St Cyres, a woman from London who is staying on a nearby farm while her husband is a Japanese POW. As fashionable visitors arrive at Little Thatch, Vaughan's prized seclusion is threatened. As Inspector Macdonald investigates the murder, he must navigate the complex relationships between the country folk and the newcomers to uncover the truth behind the fire in the thatch.
