Description

Thomas Walsh's discovery at the Camp Bird Mine near Ouray, Colorado, changed his life forever. His daughter Evalyn went on to lead an extraordinary life after her marriage to Edward Beale McLean, whose family owned The Washington Post. The couple's lavish lifestyle was marked by spectacular parties and high-society gatherings, where they entertained prominent figures including kings and presidents. Their grand homes were a testament to their wealth, with one notable purchase being the famous Hope diamond. However, tragedy struck when a son died, and the family fortune was lost. This biography offers a glimpse into the life of Evalyn Walsh McLean, a woman who experienced both opulence and hardship, and the circumstances that shaped her extraordinary story.
