Description
V.I. Warshawski's search for August, a young film-maker who has disappeared, leads her to uncover secrets about his past and present. Her investigation takes her from a military base in Kansas to a farm outside a university town, where she uncovers clues that suggest trouble is brewing. As V.I. digs deeper, she finds herself entangled in a web of past and present-day events, including the history of a former nuclear missile site next door to the farm. The more she learns, the more she realizes that nothing is as it seems, and that the truth may be more sinister than she initially thought. The trail eventually leads V.I. to a tragic discovery, one that raises questions about the nature of truth and the consequences of uncovering secrets.
