Description

The allure of the exotic has long been a driving force in Western culture. Exotic explores this enduring fascination with distant lands and their promise of the strange and wonderful, revealing how our engagement with foreign cultures has enriched society through art, design, architecture, and other cultural elements. Through a rich collection of evocative images, this book demonstrates the significant impact of 'the foreign' on Western culture. The absorption of foreign influences has consistently contributed to cultural dynamism and artistic energy, shaping the course of history in profound ways. In today's globalized world, where our engagement with cultures from around the globe is more accessible than ever, Exotic offers a timely and thought-provoking examination of this complex phenomenon.
