Description
Richard Cork's personal encounters with influential modern and contemporary artists are revealed in this insightful collection. Through frank interviews, he uncovers the personalities behind their art.
Cork draws on his experience as an art critic to share stories of chance meetings, scheduled conversations, and serendipitous encounters with artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Roy Lichtenstein, Jasper Johns, Tracey Emin, Damien Hirst, David Hockney, Francis Bacon, Gerhard Richter, Doris Salcedo, Sonia Boyce, Luc Tuymans, and Steve McQueen.
With his 'lucid, even-handed and at times trenchantly critical judgement', Cork has played a significant role in shaping our understanding of late modern and contemporary art. This book offers a unique glimpse into the lives and creative ambitions of some of the world's most influential artists.
