The SAS are called in to rescue hostages from a terrorist-held embassy. On 30 April 1980, six well-armed terrorists seized the Iranian Embassy in London, taking 19 Iranian nationals and four British citizens hostage. After some initial releases, the situation escalated when one of the hostages was shot dead on the fifth day of the siege. The SAS had already rehearsed a high-risk rescue operation in their top-secret 'Killing House'. On the evening of 5 May, twelve SAS soldiers made a courageous assault on the Embassy, dressed in black and armed to the teeth. The international media watched as they took on the heavily armed terrorists in a desperate bid to save the remaining hostages. The outcome was far from certain, but one thing was clear: only the most skilled and daring operatives could hope to succeed in this high-stakes mission.
