Description

Elizabeth Siddal: Her Story by Jan Marsh offers a fresh perspective on the life of this often-misremembered woman. Contrary to popular myth, Siddal was an aspirational and independent individual who knew what she wanted and wasn't afraid to express it. Marsh sheds new light on Siddal's life, including her time at art school in Sheffield, which has been largely overlooked by history. She also explores the challenges Siddal faced after a stillbirth, and how this event had a profound impact on her mental health. By re-examining these events, Marsh reveals a more nuanced picture of Siddal's life, one that highlights her strength and agency. Through extraordinary stories and previously undiscovered details, Marsh brings new depth to our understanding of Elizabeth Siddal.
