Description
Eleanor Marx: A Radical Life Yvonne Kapp's biography of Eleanor Marx is a groundbreaking work that sheds light on one of history's most overlooked radical figures. Born into a family of intellectuals, Eleanor led an extraordinary life as a labour organiser, trade unionist, translator, actor, writer and feminist. This single-volume edition includes an introduction by Sally Alexander, providing new insights into the Marx household in Victorian London and the circle of thinkers who shaped their lives. Kapp's biography captures Eleanor's spirit, from her lively childhood to her later years as a free intellectual, helping to lead England's unskilled workers at the height of the new unionism. A fascinating and unrivalled account of the Marx family and their extraordinary mentor, Friedrich Engels, this book is a worthwhile read for anyone interested in radical history and feminist activism.
