Description
El mentiroso (The Liar) is a subtle and intriguing novella by Henry James, first published in 1888. Translated by Pilar Adón, this edition brings the author's characteristic ambiguity, irony, and psychological penetration to life.
The story revolves around Oliver Lyon, a painter who becomes obsessed with Everina Brant, a woman he once loved but is now married to an eccentric man, Colonel Capadose. A compulsive liar, Colonel Capadose has a defect that Oliver aims to capture in his art, hoping it will reveal the truth about Everina's feelings.
The solution to this complex web of relationships and deception is both unexpected and fascinating, revealing a game where nothing is as it seems and sentimental entanglements can lead to all manner of falsehoods and betrayals.
