Description
The Spanish Connection: A Forgotten War Operation In April 1943, a fisherman off the coast of Punta Umbría stumbled upon a body in the sea. The victim was a British officer, and attached to his corpse was a maletín containing sensitive documents. These papers were intercepted by Spanish authorities, who passed them on to the German government, leading to a dramatic shift in their military strategy. The operation in question was never carried out as planned, but its existence remained classified for decades. Ben MacIntyre, author of Zigzag, has uncovered the truth behind this intriguing episode, revealing the involvement of Spanish military personnel with the Nazis during World War II. Through previously unseen documents and meticulous research, MacIntyre sheds light on a pivotal moment in history that was deliberately kept hidden.
