El arte de la resurrección

Domingo Zárate Vega begins to predict apocalyptic forms in the clouds and accurately forecast small disasters. After his mother's death, he becomes a hermit in the Elqui Valley, where he has a vision that reveals he is the reincarnation of Jesus Christ. In 1942, he learns that a prostitute named Magalena lives in an office called Providencia, who venerates the Virgin of Carmen and shares his name. He sets out to find her with the intention of making her his disciple and lover, and together they will proclaim the imminent arrival of the end of the world. In the desert landscapes of Chile and the salt flats, the self-proclaimed Christ of Elqui causes a stir among locals with his preachings and surreal miracles. This book is a unique chronicle of an era and place, written in a humorous and surreal prose that combines grotesque characters, fervent sermons, and incredible miracles. Hernán Rivera Letelier's writing brings this extraordinary story to life, offering a fascinating glimpse into the lives of those who lived through it.
