Description
Effective Conservation Parks, Rewilding, and Local Development by Ignacio Jiménez and Ignacio Jiménez Pérez offers a fresh approach to conservation that prioritises collaboration between local communities and conservationists. By integrating nature and people ecologically, socially, and politically, this approach can create self-sustaining cycles where both thrive. Drawing on the author's thirty years of experience managing conservation projects across three continents, Effective Conservation provides practical guidance on designing, analysing, and managing effective conservation programs. The book explores key considerations such as intelligence gathering, communication, planning, conflict management, and evaluation techniques, with numerous examples of successful projects from around the world. A companion website (islandpress.org/effective-conservation) offers additional case studies, expanded texts, and links to further resources, making this a valuable resource for anyone looking to make conservation work in practice.
