Edwin Rickards was a flamboyant Edwardian architect known for his unique blend of French and Austrian influences in his designs. His buildings were characterized by their baroque style, which set him apart from other architects of the time. Rickards' career was marked by both creative success and personal adventure. He worked closely with prominent practitioners of the New Sculpture movement, designing two major monuments that remain notable examples of the period. In addition to his architectural pursuits, he was also a skilled caricaturist and freehand draughtsman.
