Description
Ed Ruscha: Tom Sawyer Paintings by Mark Godfrey and Ralph Rugoff is a lavishly illustrated catalogue documenting the 2022 exhibition at Gagosian Paris. The exhibition featured ten new paintings and a hologram, showcasing a new direction in Ruscha's work that extends his interest in realism, modernist abstraction, and the American vernacular. The catalogue includes plate photography of the paintings and installation views of the exhibition, as well as new essays by Mark Godfrey and Ralph Rugoff offering critical and historical contexts for the work. This bilingual English and French publication provides a unique insight into Ruscha's practice and his ongoing exploration of themes in contemporary art. A career-spanning retrospective of Ed Ruscha's work is currently on view at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and will travel to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in April 2024. This catalogue offers a valuable addition to any collection or study of modern and contemporary art.
