Description

Alan Wilkins' life in sport was never as straightforward as he had hoped. Growing up in Cardiff, he dreamed of playing cricket professionally, but his career took an unexpected turn when he swapped the bat for a microphone and television camera. With great humility and humour, Wilkins recounts his journey from sports teacher to professional cricketer with Glamorgan and Gloucestershire, and how a debilitating shoulder injury brought his sporting life to an end. Despite this setback, Wilkins was determined to continue pursuing his passion for sport. He went on to forge a successful career in broadcasting, commentating on some of the world's most iconic sporting events, including Wimbledon, The Masters, and major international tournaments. This absorbing story offers a unique insight into the life of a sports broadcaster, and the man behind the microphone. Through Easier Said Than Done, Wilkins shares his fascinating story, revealing the highs and lows of his life in sport, and the friendships he formed with many legends of the sporting world.
