Description

Edward McKnight Kauffer was a leading graphic designer in Britain during the 20th century. Born in Montana, he traveled extensively throughout Europe before settling in London at the start of World War I. Here, he developed his unique style, influenced by Cubism and German poster art. Kauffer's work with Roger Fry's Omega Workshops and his subsequent commissions from various clients, including London Underground and Shell, helped establish him as a prominent designer. His posters, characterized by their vibrant colors and modernist aesthetic, had a significant impact on British design. This book features over 150 illustrations of Kauffer's original artworks, many of which have not been previously reproduced. Brian Webb has provided detailed descriptions, while Peyton Skipwith contributes an introductory essay to this comprehensive collection of Kauffer's work.
