Description

Dostoevsky Reminiscences by Anna Dostoevsky is a unique and intimate memoir that offers a personal perspective on the life of one of Russia's most celebrated writers. Based on the second Russian edition, published in Moscow in 1971, this translation presents a revised chronology of Fyodor Dostoevsky's family history, with Anna Grigoryevna's own account of her childhood and youth at its centre. The book has been carefully edited by scholars S. V. Belov and V. A. Tunimanov, who have rearranged the manuscript into twelve broad chapters in chronological sequence. This edition also includes additional material, such as Anna's description of her only meeting with Leo Tolstoy, which was not present in earlier versions. With its detailed and personal insights, Dostoevsky Reminiscences provides a fascinating glimpse into the life of Fyodor Dostoevsky and his family, shedding new light on one of Russia's most enduring literary legacies.
