Description
This collection of essays surveys the state of historical research in the late 1970s and its subsequent developments. The contributors assess the impact of new approaches on the discipline, finding that they have not yielded satisfactory results.
The volume argues that traditional methods, reevaluated and understood properly, provide the foundation for a rigorous and objective approach to history. By managing historical sources and causal strategies in an objective manner, historians can strive for a truthful account of the past.
