Description
The Desert Rats: A Seminal Part of Modern Military History In the recent conflict in Iraq, the 7th Armoured Brigade, bearing the Desert Rats insignia, played a pivotal role in early fighting that ultimately led to the capture of Basra. The legacy of the Desert Rats was revived during World War II, where their battles significantly contributed to turning the tide against German dominance. Following the war, they re-emerged as part of NATO forces during the Cold War years and participated in major deployments in the 1991 Gulf War and Bosnia. John Parker draws heavily on first-hand accounts in this latest military history, shedding light on a pivotal chapter in modern military history. This book provides an in-depth look at the experiences of those who served with the Desert Rats, offering a unique perspective on their role in shaping the course of recent conflicts. With its focus on the drama and significance of the Desert Rats' story, this book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in modern military history.
