Description
At 81, Stella Walthall Patterson embarked on an extraordinary adventure: spending a year living alone with her dog Vicki on a remote mining claim in the Siskiyou Mountains. With her doctor's blessing, she left behind a comfortable life in San Francisco to find solitude and write.
Instead, she found herself drawn into the lives of the small-town characters who lived nearby, and faced the challenges of rustic living with humor and zest. This is the story she tells in Dear Mad'm, a humorous account of her year on the claim, full of fresh observations and original insights.
As Stella reflects on her experience, it becomes clear that this good life was exactly what she needed - not just for herself, but for those around her as well. A heartwarming and engaging tale of self-discovery and connection, Dear Mad'm is a testament to the power of living life on one's own terms.
