Description
dayliGht Poems is a powerful and poignant collection of poems from Roya Marsh, a necessary new voice in American poetry. Written in protest to an absence of representation, this stunning debut unpacks the traumas of growing up as a butch Black woman in America.
In lush, vulnerable verses, Marsh recalls her early life and the attendant torments of coming of age in a society that rarely acknowledged or discussed the full spectrum of gender and sexuality. With an astonishing fresh talent, she reveals a deep well of resilience, a cutting sense of irony, and a profound understanding of the complexities of identity.
This is a book that will resonate with anyone who has ever felt like they don't fit into societal norms, and will appeal to readers readers to seek out more diverse voices in poetry. dayliGht Poems is a worthwhile read for anyone interested in contemporary American poetry and the experiences of Black women.
