Description
In Boksburg is a photographic essay that explores the everyday lives of white South Africans in the 1970s and 1980s. The book, first published in 1982, presents a nuanced portrayal of the dynamics at play in a town where racial segregation was prevalent. The photographer's fly-on-the-wall approach captures scenes from streets, shops, clubs, churches, and homes, revealing the complexities of life in Boksburg. A new essay by Sean O'Toole provides context for the book's history and the story behind the photographs. This Steidl edition includes additional photographs and a new essay, offering fresh insights into this significant work of photography.
