Description

Daniel and the Twelve Prophets for Everyone by John Goldingay The Book of Daniel begins with the trials of those who survived Jerusalem's destruction by the Babylonians in 587 BC. Four centuries later, visions appear to those living in Jerusalem under persecution, promising God's deliverance. The twelve shorter prophets speak both warnings and instructions to God's people between the eighth and fifth centuries BC. These prophets, though appearing at different times and preaching to different audiences, share a common understanding of God's desire to connect with his people. Drawing on personal anecdote, a witty style, and theological knowledge, John Goldingay explores the unfolding story of the Old Testament. Goldingay's approach offers a fresh perspective on these important prophets, making their messages accessible and engaging for readers interested in biblical studies and interpretation.
