Description
Dana Gillespie: Weren't Born A Man by Dana Gillespie and David Shasha is a candid and humorous memoir that chronicles the life and career of the award-winning first lady of the Blues. With unflinching honesty, Gillespie recounts her experiences with 1960s rock royalty, including liaisons with David Bowie and Bob Dylan, as well as her time performing in iconic productions like Jesus Christ Superstar and Tommy. Gillespie's story is a wild ride that takes readers through the highs and lows of her life, from her days as a British junior waterski champion to her chart-topping pop hits across Europe. Along the way, she shares stories of her friendships with Elton John and Marc Almond, who praise her fearlessness and sauciness. A true original, Dana Gillespie's memoir is a worthwhile read for anyone interested in the life and career of this music legend.
