Description

Ginevra de' Benci was more than just a muse to Leonardo da Vinci - she was an inspiration. In 15th-century Florence, this young woman longed to express herself through poetry and art, but her life was dictated by the men around her. When the charismatic Venetian ambassador Bernardo Bembo arrived, Ginevra's world changed forever. Bembo chose Ginevra as his Platonic muse, commissioning a portrait of her by da Vinci. As she posed for the brilliant painter, an intimate connection formed between them. But in a city where art and politics were intertwined, Ginevra faced many challenges to discover her voice and find love. In this richly detailed novel, Laura Malone Elliott brings to life a fascinating period of Renaissance history, one of exquisite art and deadly political feuds.
