Description

D. H. Lawrence A Personal Record by Jessie Chambers is a deeply personal account of the author's childhood and youth. Written in response to other accounts of Lawrence's life, this book offers a direct and clear understanding of his nature, one that challenges prevailing interpretations. Chambers' own experiences with Lawrence are well-documented, including her role as the model for Miriam Leivers in Sons and Lovers. Her account is notable for its candour and insight, providing a unique perspective on Lawrence's life and work. This book marks an important moment in the launch of Lawrence's literary career, thanks to Chambers' efforts in sending his work to the English Review.
