Description
William Blake's poem 'A Cradle Song' is beautifully set in this elegant choral piece by Chilcott. A gentle, recurring melody is passed from sopranos to altos, supported by soothing harmonies in the lower voices. The final section features a striking countermelody as the congregation joins in with 'Away in a manger', weaving together the vocal textures in a captivating way. This carol is designed for everyone to sing along, making it an ideal choice for choirs and congregations alike. Chilcott's music reflects his wide range of musical influences and commitment to writing songs that are both accessible and meaningful. As a renowned composer and arranger of choral music, Bob Chilcott has created many popular pieces that have been widely performed and recorded by top choirs around the world.
